We build a wall, you build a wall. We tear a wall, you tear a wall. Teo Paaer's piece is a performative installation about boundaries. It involves participants and audience in the act of building and tearing down a wall made of 175 marble bricks. Performers are building the wall by taking bricks from the end of the wall and moving them to the front, making the wall to move forward. They need to co-operate, communicate and coordinate the build. Start and end points are set, otherwise the builders can choose route for the wall and they choose how to tackle possible obstacles and problems. The piece manifests the physical, political and mental boundaries that are being built or torn down and in which we take part as individuals and as members of our society. It brings people together, to collaborate and to confront.
We Build Walls / We Tear Walls is part of Prague Quadriennal Q2019 / Formations.
Dates are 7 - 11.6.2019 and the performance is running from 9:00 in the morning to 21:00 in the evening.

Anyone can sign up to participate as a performer for WBWWTW at PQ2019. Performers are building and tearing down the wall made of marble tiles. Tiles weight approximately 15kgs, but you dont have to lift them alone! There are always 2 performers working on the wall at the same time and they can help eachother. Performers work in 2 hour shifts.
WBWWTW provides safety boots and gloves. It is advisable that the performers don't know eachother before hand, but you can also sign up with a friend. All performers are guided and adviced prior to performance. If you feel like you need special help or guidance please let us know! If you want to participate, please:
